M: Hello, may I help you?

W: Hi. I'm looking for a bicycle for my seven-year-old son.

M: Okay. Would you like a bicycle with or without a basket?

W: Um. I guess a bicycle with a basket would be more convenient.

M: Alright. Then, you can choose one from these. We have ones with stripes

and without them. They are all popular.

W: They all look nice, but the striped one would be better.

M: Good choice! Now, do you need one with training wheels in the back?

W: Yes. He just started learning how to ride a bicycle. So, I'll take the one

with training wheels.

M: Okay. I hope your son likes this bicycle.

2.

M: Hey, Emily. You've tried Calming Soap before, right?

W: Yes, I use it all the time. Why?

M: I'm thinking of getting some soap for Jenny's birthday.

W: Good idea. It's well known for its relaxing effects.

M: Really? Jenny said she wanted something just like that.

W: Then, she'll love it. You can find many different scents at the shop. All

the soaps smell really nice, but lavender is my favorite.

M: Good to know. Do you know how much it is?

W: Yeah. It's seven dollars each, but it's totally worth it.

M: Oh, I see. Do they come in different shapes?

W: Sure. There are many kinds of shapes you can choose from.

M: Okay, thanks.

Can you send me the black ones that I ordered?

W: Oh, really? What is your order number?

M: Let me check. [Pause] It's AB213.

W: [Typing sound] Oh, I think there was a delivery mistake. Were very

sorry for the inconvenience. Well collect the white shoes and send you a

new pair of black ones as soon as possible.

M: Okay. Please send me the correct ones this time.

W: Of course! And we'll also send you a 20 percent discount coupon for a

future order. We apologize, again.

M: That's okay. Thanks for the coupon.

4.

W: Hi, welcome to the community center. How may I help you?

M: Hi! I hear that you offer hiphop dance classes. Are they available?

W: Yes, they are. We have two classes on Friday. Class A begins at 3 p.m.

and Class B at 6 p.m. Both last for two hours.

M: Um. I can't take Class A because I work until 5 p.m.

W: Then, it looks like you have just one option. Do you want to register?

M: Yes, I'll choose Class B that starts at 6 p.m.

W: Good. Please fill out this form.

M: Alright.

5.

M: Hello, Michelle. What's up?

W: I got selected as a member of the student council.

M: Wow! Good for you!

W: But I'm nervous because I don't know anyone on the council. I've never

done anything like this before.

M: Come on. You'll do great and make some new friends.

W: What if I can't get along with the other members?

M: You'll be fine. You're smart, funny, and friendly. Be confident!

W: I don't know. I'm still worried.

6.

W: Number One

M: Do you need any help?

W: I want to get that book, but I can't reach it.

W: Number Two

M: Can you book the tickets for me?

W: Sure. How many do you need?

W: Number Three

M: When can you come to the bookstore?

W: Well, I think I can be there in 10 minutes.

W: Number Four

M: What are you doing?

W: I'm making a bookshelf for my daughter.

W: Number Five

M: Let's start swimming now.

W: Wait! We need to stretch first.

7.

[Cellphone rings.]

W: Darling, have you arrived at the restaurant yet?

M: I'm almost there. How about you?

W: I’m sorry, but I think I'm going to be slightly late.

M: It's okay. You don't need to hurry. Do you want me to change our

reservation?

W: No. Can you please order our meals first? I'm so hungry.

M: Okay. What do you want?

W: I'd like roast beef and a baked potato.

M: Good. Anything else?

W: No, that's all. See you soon.

8.

W: Hello, fellow students. I'm Minji Kim, the head of the graduation

ceremony committee. As you know, the ceremony is next Friday,

February 8th at 10 a.m. It'll be held in the school gym. Graduating

students should wear school uniforms on that day. The school music band

will give a special performance. Further notice will be given early next

week. Thank you.

9.

M: This is enjoyed by many people. You can eat this as a meal when you're

busy. It comes in different tastes and sizes. You usually eat this with

chopsticks. These days, many convenience stores provide small tables for

customers to eat this. To make this, you open the lid, put in the soup

powder, and pour in some boiled water. Then, you simply cover the lid

and wait for about three minutes. Now, you are ready to enjoy this.

10.

M: Number One

W: Is everything okay? You look tired.

M: I couldn't sleep well last night because it was too hot.

M: Number Two

W: Do you want to play chess?

M: Can we play later? I'm kind of busy with my homework.

M: Number Three

W: Could you give me a ride to school in your car?

M: Sure. Let's walk to school together.

M: Number Four

W: Do you mind opening the window?

M: Not at all. We need some fresh air.

M: Number Five

W: I think I can pass the exam this time.

M: I'm sure you can. You've studied so hard for it.

11.

W: Hi, Tom! Where are you going?

M: Hi, Alice. I’m heading to the library.

W: Oh, I see. What for?

M: My younger sister asked me for a favor. She broke her leg and she

cannot go anywhere for a while.

W: What happened?

M: She fell while skateboarding.

W: Oh, I hope it's not too serious. So, are you going to get some books for

her?

M: No, I'm just going to retum the science book that she borrowed. It's due

today.

W: I see. I hope she gets well soon.

M: Thanks.

12.

M: Jimin! Let's decide where to set up our club booth for the school festival.

W: Sure! Let's look at the map. [Pause] How about Section B? It's in the

garden.

M: Yeah, but I think it'll be a little cold outside.

W: Good point. Then, Section A is also not a good option. How about Section

C? It's next to the cafeteria.

M: Let me see. It seems that all the booths in Section C are already taken.

So, we have to choose from the two remaining options.

W: Well, Section D is too far from the entrance.

M: I agree. Then, we only have the one section left that's next to the concert

hall.

W: Right. Many people can come to that area.

M: Good. Let's choose that section.

13.

W: Minho! I'm so excited that the movie, Space Adventure is finally released!

M: I know. We have to watch it in 3D.

W: I agree. How about watching it together on Saturday?

M: Sounds good. Let me check the times on my phone. [Pause] Saturday at

l p.m. or 4 p.m. looks good.

W: How about at 4 p.m.?

M: Oh, the tickets for the 4 p.m. movie are sold out already. Let's try 1 p.m.

W: But then, we won't have enough time for lunch. What about in the

evening?

M: Well There's one at 6 p.m., but it's not in 3D. Do you still want to watch

it?

W: No. Are there any other options?

M: There's one at 7 p.m., and it's in 3D.

W: Okay, let's watch that one.

17.

W: Robin, how's your project going so far?

M: You mean Ms. Brown's social studies project?

W: Yes. I decided to make a neighborhood map indicating the local shops.

M: That's awesome! I'm going to interview the owners of the local shops to

hear about the history of their shops.

W: Hey, I have an idea. Why don't we put our projects together?

M: That's a good idea. But, wasn't it an individual project? I'm not sure if it's

possible.

W: I think we should ask Ms. Brown if we can work on it as a team.

M: OK. Let’s talk to her this afternoon.

W: Sure. I’d love to play with you guys!

W: Mr. Kim is a high school music teacher. He is coaching one of his

students, Yeji for the local singing contest. Yeji has practiced hard for

more than two months. On the day of the contest, Mr. Kim finds out that

Yeji is feeling very nervous while waiting for her turn. So, Mr. Kim

would like to tell her that she has to trust herself. In this situation, what

would Mr. Kim most likely say to Yeji?

Mr. Kim: Yeji, you should believe in yourself.
