M: Ji-na, what are you reading?
W: Hi, Mr. Brown. It’s an English book titled The Global Economy.
M: That sounds difficult.
W: It is. I spend so much time looking up new words in the dictionary.
M: Hmm. You should choose a more level-appropriate English book. You’ll be able to read faster without distractions.
W: That makes sense. But I thought I would learn English better if I read
difficult things.
M: Well, when learners read English books that are too hard, they get
exhausted and give up their studies easily.
W: So, do you mean I need to read something that’s not so hard?
M: Yes. Reading at an appropriate level is more enjoyable and motivates
learners to keep going.
W: I see what you mean.
M: Why don’t you drop by the library and choose an English book that’s
appropriate for your level?
W: I think that’s a good idea. Thank you, Mr. Brown.

M: Yeah. More than 500 people came to see it. I had a wonderful time.
W: Now, we all know making things disappear is your specialty.
M: That’s right.
W: Can you tell us how you make huge things like cars disappear?
M: Well, I can’t reveal my secrets, but it’s not as easy as pulling a rabbit out of a hat.
W: Come on! Can’t you share just one little trick with us?
M: Alright, then. Just one. I’ll show you a magic trick with coins.

good.
W: Oh, I put it there because the children have been learning about dinosaurs.
M: That sounds fun. There are two boxes under the Christmas tree. What are
they for?
W: They’re presents for the class. We’ve got some candies for the kids.

W: Okay. Anything else?
M: That’s it. Can I use this coupon I picked up from the hotel?
W: Yeah. That gives you 10% off the total price.
M: Wonderful. Here’s my credit card.
10. 대화를 듣고, World Furniture Expo에 관해 언급되지 않은 것을 고르시오.

M: Yeah. That would be a good place to compare the quality and prices of the furniture. When is it?

W: I’m here to look for a floor lamp for my living room.
M: Here, take a look at this catalog. We have five models you can choose from.
Are you looking for anything specific?
W: Yes. It shouldn’t be too short. I’d like to get one that’s taller than one
hundred and thirty centimeters.
M: Then how about these four models? Would you like LED bulbs?
W: Yes, I would. They last longer than standard bulbs.
M: And they save energy. I definitely recommend LEDs. What’s your price

for individual work.
M: Huh? No one told me about it.
W: Don’t you remember? We decided that in class last Friday.
M: I wasn’t there, Cindy. I stayed home sick.
W: Oh, no! That’s right. You were absent last Friday when we changed the
date! I was going to call you after school, but I forgot.

[3점]
W: Sarah and Brian are university classmates. Sarah wants to be a teacher and

contribute to the community while getting teaching experience. However,
she’s not sure what kind of volunteer work she can do. Brian is a volunteer

lot, and that he’s benefitting from the experience as well. Sarah tells Brian
about her plan and asks him to recommend some volunteer work for her.
Since Brian finds his volunteer work rewarding, he wants to suggest to
Sarah that she be a mentor at the community center. In this situation, what
would Brian most likely say to Sarah?
16번부터 17번까지는 두 번 들려줍니다.
[16~17] 다음을 듣고, 물음에 답하시오.
M: Hello, class. Last time we learned about insects, their life cycles and what they
eat. As you know, many insects get food from flowers, but they aren’t the only
creatures that do. Today, we’ll learn about a variety of animals that use flowers as a food source. First are hummingbirds. These birds use their long narrow beaks to get the flower’s sweet liquid called nectar. Mysteriously, they only feed from upside down flowers. We still don’t know why. Next are bats.
Although most bats eat insects, some get their food from flowers. These bats have a strong sense of smell and sight compared to insect-eating bats. There are also lizards that drink nectar. These lizards are found on tropical islands that have few natural enemies. Finally, there is a type of squirrel that feeds from flowers. Most nectar-drinking animals help flowers grow in numbers, but these squirrels often harm the plant. When drinking nectar, they bite through the flower, which causes damage. Interesting, huh? What other animals use flowers in their diet? Take a minute to think, and then we’ll talk about it.
